The Town of Creston has launched of a new emergency management website dedicated to community safety and preparedness.
The initiative is a proactive approach providing comprehensive information and resources for handling emergencies and improve quick responses in the future.
“We’ve built this website as a tool for the citizens of Creston to use in case of emergency, so if there were to be a wildfire or a flood or a prolonged power outage or any sort of emergency, they can go there to find information on how to deal with that emergency,” said Brandy Dyer, Communications Coordinator Town of Creston.
“It’s also a place where people can go get preparedness education and learn how to build your emergency kit to have ready in case of emergency.”
The website serves as a centralized hub where residents can stay informed about various hazards that could impact the area. By understanding the hazards and risks, the community can better prepare and protect themselves and their families.
Before the launch of the Emergency website, there was no dedicated location for emergency information locally.
And in an emergency, preparedness is key.
“Having our citizens prepared ahead of time is a huge piece because if there is an emergency and no one’s prepared for that, everything is just going to take longer.”
“We urge people to go to the site now and learn how they can be prepared.”
So, check it, out a frequently.
“Check it out at em.crteston.ca, but also to go back often because it’s going to be built into a much bigger site eventually.”
