A 57-year-old Creston man was arrested on suspicions of threatening Creston Court House staff on Monday, March 3.
According to Creston RCMP, the man called the courthouse attempting to get changes to the conditions he is currently bound by.
The staff member explained the process for this to happen, but the man allegedly threatened to visit the court with his gun and deal with it himself.
Creston RCMP confirmed that court staff were safe and the man was arrested.
“The Creston RCMP take threats to community safety with the highest regard, and in doing so responded immediately,” said police officials.
“Through the investigation, police were able to determine where the suspect was located and arrest him without incident.”
The man is currently being held in custody on an unrelated matter as police and the BC Prosecution Services work on appropriate charges.
“Our officers’ response to this was extremely effective and efficient, restricting this individual’s access from places he could potentially conduct himself in a way dangerous to the public’s safety,” said S/Sgt. Brandon Buliziuk, Creston RCMP Detachment Commander.
“Officers utilized investigative procedures that gave them the upper hand and the ability to create a situation that forced an arrest without incident. I am proud of the response by our personnel and their continued commitment to public safety in the Creston Valley.
